Excellent stay in Kokuya. Warm and very friendly welcome despite my net not having reserved. Everybody most helpfull. Building very agreeable. Hot psrings inside hotel very nice. Food delicious. Good way to discover Japanese atmosphere in this onsen village with 9 public baths! Close to the Snow Monkey area. Despite bad weather my stay was perfect. Wort every penny! Will definitely come back. Recommend this place to relax and enjoy!

I chose Kokuya Ryokan because I was looking for the ultimate onsen experience, and I was not disappointed.

Kokuya Ryokan is located in the heart of Shibu Onsen Street, a short walk from the nine outdoor public baths in the town, but it also has a large variety of baths of its own, both shared and private, indoor and outdoor. The single-sex shared baths are swapped every day, so you can try them all.

   I came for the onsen experience, but nothing had prepared me for the amazing food. If you stay here, your taste buds will love you. The food is always exqusitely prepared from the freshest ingredients in perfect condition by a chef who has been working here for twenty years. Dinner and breakfast are included, and consist of several generous courses, so my one piece of advice to visitors would be to skip lunch for the duration of your stay.

choice of baths. Lovely atmospheric room, great local cuisine and perfect location. We didnt miss anything and would like to stay one week more in this relaxing atmosphere.
