Since Kokuya's establishment over 400 years ago in the early Edo period, the owner has been proud to carry the name "Ichizaemon" to this day.
Throughout Kokuya's history, its owners have upheld high standards of hospitality to their guests, providing them with relaxing hot spring experiences in a truly traditional environment. The name of our special room, "Kuon," means "eternal" in Japanese. Let us make the memories of your trip truly unforgettable.

Our new special room created in a historical hot spring town is unlike any other.
Go through the private entrance, and you'll find the main room, connected with the anteroom and the bedroom, all made in the sukiya-zukuri (elegant and refined architecture) style. We designed the room's interior to be accessible to everyone, with almost no steps, while keeping a special Japanese feel. The pillars and beams in the room add to the atmosphere. Some are made from wood used in the town's Onbashira Festival. Our dedicated staff will do their best to make your stay as comfortable as possible.

Enjoy a selection of high-quality hot spring baths.
Kokuya has seven types of hot springs. We have carefully selected three unique sources for the room's indoor bath. You can choose the type of hot water when you make your reservation or leave it to us.
There is also a hinoki wooden open-air bath, a Finnish sauna, and a cold bath for you to enjoy.
With a wide selection of hot springs, you can enjoy modern Japanese “toji,” a therapeutic bathing method.

Savor the best of Shinshu and Japan's seasonal foods.
Featuring fresh food from Shinshu's mountains, enjoy kaiseki cuisine (a traditional Japanese meal comprised of many small courses).
Here you can savor dishes that use ingredients that change based on the season and are made using traditional methods, like beef from Shinshu cattle raised on a staple diet of apples. Your seasonal dishes for breakfast and dinner are made especially for the Kuon room experience.
